Facebook ads in Pakistan are famously cheap, until they are not. A Gulberg restaurant can reach thousands of people for the price of a dinner bill, yet plenty of businesses burn through ad spend with nothing to show. Here is what the money actually goes to in 2026, and what separates campaigns that work from money pits.
The two costs everyone confuses
When someone asks "how much do Facebook ads cost", they usually mean two different bills: the ad spend (money paid to Meta for impressions and clicks) and the management fee (money paid to whoever runs the campaigns). Ad spend starts from a few hundred rupees a day. A small business in Pakistan typically spends PKR 30, 000 to 100, 000 a month on ad spend to get meaningful data and results. Management fees in the local market usually sit between PKR 25, 000 to 75, 000 a month for small accounts, or a percentage of ad spend for larger ones. Both are needed. Cheap ad spend with bad management is the most expensive combination of all.
| Ad spend | Management fee | |
|---|---|---|
| Paid to | Meta (Facebook / Instagram) | Your freelancer or agency |
| Typical range in Pakistan | From a few hundred rupees a day; PKR 30, 000 to 100, 000/month for meaningful results | PKR 25, 000 to 75, 000/month, or a percentage of spend on larger accounts |
| What it buys | Impressions, clicks and reach | Strategy, targeting, creative direction, testing and reporting |
| Skimp here and… | No data to learn from | Cheap spend with bad management is the most expensive combination |
What the ad spend actually buys you
Testing is the hidden budget
New campaigns do not start by printing leads. They start with testing, which audiences respond, which creative stops the scroll, which offer pulls enquiries. Expect the first few weeks to be a learning phase where the money buys information, not customers. A DHA boutique selling lawn suits cannot skip this; its audience has to be found, not assumed. Businesses that panic and kill the campaign in week two never get past this phase. Budget for testing, or do not budget for ads at all.
Creative matters more than targeting tricks
Meta's targeting has become broader and more automated, which means your ad creative does most of the heavy lifting now. A dull stock image with "50% off" text will underperform a genuine phone shot video of the actual product, even with perfect targeting. Most failed campaigns we review do not have a budget problem, they have a creative problem. One strong, honest creative beats ten lazy ones, and it is cheaper to test too.
Where the traffic lands decides the return
Sending paid traffic to a slow website or straight to a WhatsApp number with no reply plan is like paying for guests and locking the front door. Before spending a rupee, check the landing path: does the page load fast on mobile, is the offer clear, does someone reply to messages quickly? A Township workshop that answers WhatsApp enquiries within minutes will beat a bigger competitor that replies tomorrow, same ad spend, completely different results.
| Monthly ad spend | Realistic goal | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Under PKR 30, 000 | Testing only, find what resonates | Expect learning, not a flood of leads |
| PKR 30, 000 to 60, 000 | Steady enquiries for one local service | Enough data to optimise every week |
| PKR 60, 000 to 150, 000 | Scale the winners, add retargeting | Creative testing becomes affordable here |
| PKR 150, 000+ | Multi campaign, multi audience | Needs dedicated management to stay efficient |

What you should be paying for
A real management service covers account setup and tracking, audience research, ad copy and creative direction, campaign structure, weekly optimisation and reporting you can actually understand. It should also include regular creative refreshes, because ads wear out and need replacing, a manager who runs the same creative for six months is not managing anything. If someone's entire service is clicking "boost post" on your content, that is not management, that is a button you can press yourself. Ask exactly what is included before you sign. The fee should buy thinking, not just clicking.
Red flags in cheap packages
Be cautious of packages promising thousands of likes for a few thousand rupees, or agencies that will not give you access to your own ad account. Both are classic signs of corner cutting: fake engagement that never buys anything, or campaigns you cannot take with you if you leave. A trustworthy setup has you owning the ad account and the pixel from day one. Anything else is a hostage situation.
When to run ads yourself
Honestly, some businesses should not hire an agency yet. If your monthly ad spend is under PKR 20, 000, a management fee can exceed the spend itself, the maths stops making sense. At that stage, run simple campaigns yourself, learn what your audience responds to, and hire help when the budget (and the headaches) grow. Good agencies will tell you this. The others will take the fee anyway.
Making the budget work harder
The cheapest way to improve Facebook ads is not a bigger budget, it is better follow up. Most leads in Pakistan convert over WhatsApp conversations, and the businesses that reply fast, follow up twice and answer real questions win the orders. Pair your ads with a simple lead follow up process, and the same ad spend starts producing noticeably more sales. After that, the lever is creative: fresh, honest ads every few weeks keep costs down, because tired ads get expensive. Spend, creative and follow up are three legs of one stool. Shorten any leg and the whole thing wobbles, which is exactly what our Meta ads management and Google Ads services are set up to keep balanced. One last practical point: resist the urge to fiddle with budgets daily. Every change resets the learning phase, so give a campaign at least a week of stable spend before judging it. Patience is free, and in paid ads it is usually the highest ROI input of all.
